८ ऑगस्ट २०२४. मी या खगोलशास्त्र project (Astronomy 101) बद्दल विचार करत होतो. “या खगोलीय व्याख्या सोप्या करुन सांगताना काही वेगळं आणि स्पेशल करता येइल का?” असा विचार सारखा मनात येत होता.
खरं तर असे video तयार करण्यासाठी मी आधीच स्क्रीप्ट लिहायला घेतली होती. या खगोलीय संकल्पना समजायला थोड्या कठीणंच आहेत. त्यामुळे त्या तपासून पाहण्यासाठी आणि समजावून सांगण्यासाठी मी आधीच 3d demonstrational simulation वापरून काही models तयार केली होती. मागील अनेक दिवसांपासून हा विचार माझ्या मनात येत होता. पण मला काहीतरी वेगळं असं करावंसं वाटत होतं. पण नक्की काय ते सुचत नव्हतं. मी जे काही नुसतं 3D visualisation तयार करत होतो तेवढ्यानी माझं समाधान होत नव्हतं.
पण त्या दिवशी, पार मध्यरात्री, अचानक मनात एक विचार चमकून गेला. मी प्रचंड भारावून गेलो. कोणीतरी मला जणू प्रेरित करतंय, सुचीत करतंय असं वाटलं. गुरू कृपेमुळे माझ्या प्रश्नाचं उत्तर मिळालं. मी चिंता मुक्त झालो!
विचार चमकला की काव्यामधे हे मांडता येउ शकेल. अचानक काही ओळी सुचल्या. रात्री उशीरा मी त्या लिहून ठेवल्या. त्या अशा काहीशा होत्या :
ज्योतिशास्त्रे ही जटील । कठीण त्यांची उकल । करूनी सोपी सकल । मांडू म्हणतो ।।
मग मी आणखी काही लिहिता येतंय का ते बघीतलं. वेगवेगळ्या छंदातही प्रयत्न केरून आणखी ओळी बसवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. लक्षात येइल तसं पटापट फोनवरंच टाइप करत होतो. त्यावर ओळी आणि आनंदाश्रू एकत्र पडत होते. मग मी काही खऱ्याखूऱ्या खगोलीय संकल्पनां वर लिहिण्याचा प्रयत्न केला.
video series बनवण्यासाठी प्रमुख अशा ज्योतिष, खगोलीय संकल्पनांची यादी मी आधीच केलेली होती. जसं की पृथ्वीची स्वत: भोवतीची गती, सूर्याभोवतीचं परिभ्रमण, इ. ज्यावेळी मी या आणि पुढच्या काही technical विषयावर काव्यात लिहू शकलो तेंव्हा माझी खात्री पटली की या project मधे मुख्य script बरोबर हे काव्यात्मक लिखाणही वापरायलाच हवं.
तर मग या ज्योतिषाष्टांबरोबर आपणही आपल्या खगोल, ज्योतिष, Astronomy च्या संकल्पना जाणून घ्यायला आरंभ करुया. या सिरिज मधे आपण ज्या संकल्पनांवर विचार करणार आहोत त्यांची यादी मी मुख्य index page वर दिलेलीच आहे.

Astronomy 101
Preface – part 1
It was 08 Aug 2024. I was thinking about this Astronomy explanation project. The critical thought was, “Is there any special way I can present the Astronomic concepts?”.
I was already writing a script to narrate the concepts. I was also building a 3D demonstrational simulation model to test and explain some difficult-to-imagine astronomical events. For many days, this thought had occupied my mind. But something in me wanted to do something more. I was not happy with the way I was proceeding.
But on that midnight, in the late hours, Suddenly a thought arose in my mind. I felt incredibly emotional. I felt a clear indication and an inspiration. By the grace of the Guru, the Almighty, I had found my answer!
The inspiration was to use poetry to present astronomical concepts. Suddenly, a few lines in Marathi poetic form came to my mind. Something like:
ज्योतिशास्त्रे ही जटील । कठीण त्यांची उकल । करूनी सोपी सकल । मांडू म्हणतो ।।
I tried to compose a few more lines, tried some different poetic meter variations. I hurriedly typed on my phone notes. The words and the tears of joy and satisfaction were rolling down. Later, I decided to try this on some actual astronomical events.
I already had a list of topics I wanted to cover in this series, like the rotation of Earth around itself (producing Day and Night), the motion of Earth around the Sun (causing seasons), and so on. When I could compose a few more lines, each explaining a very specific and technical point in poetry, I was confident I could use this style in the Astronomy 101 project.
